Happy Christmas!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas Show on Thursday the 15th of December. It was a lovely festive occasion and I hope that all of you who attended enjoyed it as much as the children who were performing – they had a wonderful time! It was great that we were able to put on a show after the restrictions of the last couple of years. In addition to the parents and grandparents who attended, we were delighted to see so many of our past pupils coming along to support their younger siblings. All of the hard work and practicing of the last number of weeks paid off and we are so proud of each and every one of our pupils – they were brilliant!

Thanks also to all of you who contributed so generously to the Parent’s Association Raffle and to the sponsors;

Kavanagh’s Supervalu

EnGIS Technologies

Elysium Skincare Clinic

McGeogh’s Butchers

We wish all of our pupils and their families a very Happy Christmas!

Drumming!

On Monday the 12th of December Dessie from Drumadore came to the school and did a drumming class with the pupils in both the Junior Room and the Senior Room. Everyone had a brilliant time! What a great way to start off the week!

Visit to Westside Library.

On Thursday the 8th of December the pupils in the Senior Room went to visit Westside Library. They had a wonderful day! To start with, one of the librarians talked to them about the library, how it works and the services they have to offer. Many of the pupils are already members of the library and they were able to bring their library cards with them on the day. All those who weren’t already members were able to join and get library cards of their own.

After learning all about the library the children got to make elf bookmarks and also to build a Christmas themed piece of lego art!

Then they got to meet the Mayor of Galway, Clodagh Higgins!

Finally, everyone got a chance to browse and choose books to borrow and take home to read.

Sincere thanks to everyone at Westside Library for making this such a special day. Go to Galway County Library online to see all of the services that the library has to offer.

Coding

The pupils in the Senior Room had a whole day of coding on the 30th of November. The session was facilitated by the people from Tech Steps. First of all the pupils got to use Lego WeDo. They built lego cars and created code to allow them to control the cars and programme them to move. Later in the day they used Microsoft Makecode Arcade to create their own mazes. It was a very worthwhile day and a great introduction to the world of coding.
